O conceito de uma rede de modo padr\u00e3o foi desenvolvido depois dos investigadores inadvertidamente notarem n\u00edveis surpreendentes de atividade cerebral em participantes experimentais que deveriam estar &#8220;em repouso&#8221;, que n\u00e3o estavam envolvidos em nenhuma tarefa mental espec\u00edfica, mas apenas descansando em sil\u00eancio. Esta \u00e9 a rede envolvida no planeamento, no sonhar acordado e no ruminar. Tamb\u00e9m \u00e9 chamado de &#8220;circuito narrativo&#8221; porque tamb\u00e9m se torna ativo quando estamos a pensar sobre n\u00f3s pr\u00f3prios ou sobre outras pessoas (adicionando hist\u00f3rias a isso). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A rede de modo padr\u00e3o \u00e9 \u00fatil porque est\u00e1 envolvida na nossa mem\u00f3ria, ajudando-nos a fazer um modelo do mundo e a prever o futuro com base em eventos passados. Mas tamb\u00e9m tem as suas desvantagens. Pesquisas recentes associam a rede de modo padr\u00e3o com a infelicidade, depress\u00e3o, ansiedade, esquizofrenia, transtorno de d\u00e9ficit de aten\u00e7\u00e3o, hiperatividade (TDAH) e doen\u00e7a de Alzheimer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Os estudos indicam que a rede padr\u00e3o \u00e9 menos ativa durante a medita\u00e7\u00e3o (evitando a rumina\u00e7\u00e3o e a divaga\u00e7\u00e3o) e demonstraram uma maior conectividade funcional entre essa rede e as regi\u00f5es da rede executiva central, relacionada com a gest\u00e3o da aten\u00e7\u00e3o, sugerindo uma maior capacidade de monitorizar e gerir o pensamento divagante e autorreferencial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Como as pr\u00e1ticas de aten\u00e7\u00e3o plena mudam o c\u00e9rebro<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>H\u00e1 evid\u00eancia de que a medita\u00e7\u00e3o mindfulness causa mudan\u00e7as na estrutura e fun\u00e7\u00e3o das regi\u00f5es do c\u00e9rebro envolvidas na regula\u00e7\u00e3o da aten\u00e7\u00e3o, regula\u00e7\u00e3o emocional e autoconsci\u00eancia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Um exemplo disso \u00e9 a investiga\u00e7\u00e3o desenvolvida pela Dra. Sara Lazar e pela sua equipa (12,13,14) usando um grupo experimental que teve uma interven\u00e7\u00e3o de medita\u00e7\u00e3o mindfulness de 8 semanas e um grupo controlo sem essa interven\u00e7\u00e3o. A equipa estudou as diferen\u00e7as na quantidade de massa cinzenta usando t\u00e9cnicas de neuroimagem fMRI. Os resultados mostraram que, ao contr\u00e1rio do grupo de controlo, o grupo de treino de mindfulness revelou um aumento da massa cinzenta (em compara\u00e7\u00e3o com sua pr\u00f3pria linha de base antes do treino) em quatro regi\u00f5es diferentes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>o c\u00edngulo posterior (associado a divaga\u00e7\u00e3o da mente e auto-relev\u00e2ncia)<\/li><li>hipocampo esquerdo (aprendizagem e mem\u00f3ria)<\/li><li>jun\u00e7\u00e3o temporo-parietal (ajuda na empatia e compaix\u00e3o)<\/li><li>ponte (ajuda na comunica\u00e7\u00e3o entre o tronco e o c\u00f3rtex, bem como no sono).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Os resultados tamb\u00e9m demonstraram uma diminui\u00e7\u00e3o da massa cinzenta da am\u00edgdala (\u00e1rea do c\u00e9rebro conectada com o medo e o stress percebido). Essas mudan\u00e7as na estrutura cerebral s\u00e3o coerentes com o feedback relatado pelos participantes que descreveram um aumento na sua qualidade de vida, bem como uma diminui\u00e7\u00e3o na ansiedade e stress, divaga\u00e7\u00e3o mental e ins\u00f3nia. Eles tamb\u00e9m mediram o cortisol (uma hormona do stress) e encontraram n\u00edveis mais baixos de cortisol nos participantes sob interven\u00e7\u00e3o de mindfulness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Como o c\u00e9rebro muda<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Se h\u00e1 alguns anos se pensava que assim que se desenvolvia o nosso &#8220;c\u00e9rebro de crian\u00e7a&#8221; tudo come\u00e7ava a declinar, agora sabemos que n\u00e3o \u00e9 bem assim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>O nosso c\u00e9rebro tem a capacidade de mudar a sua forma e fun\u00e7\u00e3o usando uma caracter\u00edstica chamada de <strong>neuroplasticidade<\/strong>. Isso significa, por exemplo, que a massa cinzenta pode engrossar ou encolher e que as conex\u00f5es entre os neur\u00f3nios podem ser fortalecidas ou novas conex\u00f5es podem ser criadas. Isso tamb\u00e9m significa que a estrutura e a ativa\u00e7\u00e3o do nosso c\u00e9rebro podem ser alteradas de acordo com as experi\u00eancias que temos ou mesmo com o treino que lhe damos.
